This Gattinara is brick red in the glass, with hues of purple. On the palate, it exhibits elevated acidity, fine, velvety tannins, and intense mouthfuls of small red berries. Look for underlying notes of minerality, dried herbs, baking spice, and leather. Part of the magic of this Gattinara is that you don’t have to wait – it can be enjoyed in its youth, or cellared for some time. Consider pairing it with pungent cheese, venison stew, or a charcuterie board.

In 2017, the Gattinara is a bit richer than it often is – the result of the warm dry year – but its profile is super-classic.
