G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe 2018
Nebbiolo | Italy
G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe red wine comes from old Nebbiolo vines bought in the municipality of Barolo with the best possible exposures. In the vineyard, treatments are carried out with the utmost respect for the soil and synthetic products are only used when strictly necessary. The grapes are harvested by hand with a rigorous grape selection process and then, in the winery, the best berries are re-selected. Fermentation is carried out at controlled temperature with a long maceration and finally the wine, as tradition dictates, is aged for 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels in order to faithfully express the sense of terroir.
The result is simply excellent. G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe is an elegant, complex and delicate red wine. An authentic Barolo that is capable of uniquely expressing the best oenological essence of the Piedmont lands at dawn and that has earned the admiration of the most knowledgeable.
“Bright red fruit, good perfume, a bit of mint, almond and new leather. Medium-Bodied, fresh, red cherry, tannin is good, a slight pippy and sappy character, though in a nice way, and a cool fresh finish of excellent length. Brightly lit. Lighter framed. So charming. Good to drink now, though it may very well surprise with bottle age.”
