Grenache is a stalwart of the Barossa Valley’s treasure trove of red varieties. A noble and respected variety from the Mediterranean, Grenache thrives in the Barossa’s warm, dry climate. These Old vines are lovingly tended by Andy’s parents John and Barb. Old vines such as these produce few grapes but those they do offer make fabulously concentrated wines.
This vintage is a decade away from its peak, but it already revels in its silky body, fleshy strawberry and cream fruit with generous bouquet of roses and apricots. Drink with hearty winter foods; lambs shanks and mash would be perfect. Don’t forget to cellar some.
