Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru 2020

Les Pucelles is one of Puligny-Montrachet’s top Premier Cru vineyards, located at the very southern end of the Cote de Beaune. It lies on the hillside above the village itself and is planted entirely to Chardonnay, much like its Grand Cru neighbours. Les Pucelles Premier Cru wines are more elegant than most, with aromatic complexity and an almost sweet, nutty palate.

Green golden in colour, with spectacularly fragrant and mouth-wateringly beautiful aromas, on the palate this is rich yet elegant, with sumptuous fruit concentration, vibrant acidity, and fantastic, creamy texture.

Ideal with delicate food, fish and seafood, thin white meat and fried veal.

A domaine wine. Pale clear lemon. This again has one of the toastier noses, the effect of the second elevage on full lees. The fruit explodes on the palate, pure ripe white apples if one has to specify but both the class and the texture are impeccable. And perfect aftertaste. A strong 4 stars, a candidate for five.
