Adelphi Laphroaig 14 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky 700ml (Scotland)
An impressive bottle of Laphroaig distilled in 2004 and laid to rest in a refill bourbon hogshead. After 14 years had passed, the wonderful Adelphi chose to independently bottle the Islay single malt in 2019 at cask strength, and without colouring or chillfiltering. The cask yielded 322 bottles weighing in at 56.5% ABV.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Toasted, if slightly burnt malt loaf, with barbecued meat, sea spray and salted almond with a drizzle of honey.
Palate: More smoked meat and earthy peat, with a creamy note alongside mineral heavy seaweed, roasted nuts and a hint of tropical fruit sweetness.
Finish: Maritime peat smoke, bonfire ash and fragrant chai spice.
