Juniper Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 750ml (Margaret River, WA)
A very seductive wine offering immediate appeal and intrigue with dark cherry, cassis, plum, blueberry and mulberry aromas effortlessly mingling with balanced cedary oak, dark chocolate and vanilla. The palate is an example of power with finesse, showing concentrated fruit flavours, integrated oak and seamless tannins that carry the depth of flavours for a very long time. Cellaring potential at least until 2034.

This is an exceptionally good cabernet by whatever standards you choose. It is extremely intense, yet its impact only catches you in a silken web, the tannins – while very much present – are so soft, the aromas and flavours are from another realm. Cedar, violets, spices, bay leaf and – of course – blackcurrant.
Drink to 2033

Tasted back in July as a pre-release, and again just now on release.
Pencil and perfume, dark fruit, earthy and complex, touch of choc-mint, vanilla and eucalyptus. Full bodied, dense and packed with beautiful round gravelly tannin, sweet black and red fruits – a spectrum – black olive and tobacco savouries, bright but balanced acidity, and excellent length. It rolls and thunders, but remains calm throughout. Quality of tannin is a highlight.

Another of the Juniper reds showing the more refined and elegant style that captures this old-vine fruit exceptionally well. Blackcurrant and black olive nuances with a savoury meaty character. The structure is excellent, allowing the fruit to position and focus for its very long and powerfully sustained finish. This is high class cabernet.
