Onannon Gippsland Pinot Noir 750ml (Mornington Peninsula, Victoria)
This wine is a blend of three vineyards. The original Red Hill site (23 year old vines) and a site in Shoreham (19 year old vines) and a site in Merricks North (20 year old).
Semi translucent dark red colour with black tinged edges and a light red hue. Very perfumed nose with uplifted scents of violets, red to dark cherries and subtle strawberries prevalent over notes of meaty anise like characters, forest floor and spicy cedar. Light to medium bodied the palate features tremendous richness and power generating mouthfilling flavours of spicy red to dark cherries and strawberries which drive their way through to a long conclusion. Elements of anise, some meatiness, forest floor and cedar all add complexity. Supple yet finishing bright and savoury, very refined tannins show perfect integration. Very long aftertaste of spicy dark cherries, strawberries, subtle anise, meaty characters, forest floor and cedar.
Cellar 5-6 years.
