In celebration of Glenfarclas 105‘s 50th birthday, the distillery in Speyside has released a limited edition variation of the robust, punchy expression made exclusively with whisky aged for at least 22 years! Back in 1968, Glenfarclas changed the game with the release Glenfarclas 105, a whisky bottled at 60% ABV (or 105° degrees proof), almost the vast majority of whiskies were being bottled at the standard 40% ABV. Originally bottled as a Christmas gift by George S. Grant for distillery workers and friends, 105 soon became one of Glenfarclas’ most loved expressions.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Dense malt loaf with salted butter. Dark chocolate and wafts of cigar box.
Palate: Walnut, honey, prune, punchy cinnamon and nutmeg, more tobacco and earthy oak.
Finish: Sherried spices and coffee bean notes last ages.
